Mayuri sat on the edge of the sofa, watching the scene with growing irritation. Across from her sat the family who had come to see Chitra for a marriage proposal. "Our Arul is a saint," the woman said, fanning herself with a lace handkerchief as if the high class fan above was useless. "A successful businessman and a devoted father. Mayuri glanced at Chitra, who was sitting quietly with her head bowed.

"And he has four beautiful daughters as well," the woman continued, her voice filled with pride. "Five children in total! He is a very... capable man. He needs a wife who can handle a large household and step into the role of a mother immediately."

Mayuri felt a surge of cold anger as she did the math in her head. Four daughters, and the wife died giving birth to the fifth child... They had kept pushing the poor woman to get pregnant over and over again until they finally got the heir they wanted, and it had cost the woman her life.
